After a late night of shooting people again, I can barely keep my eyes open here at work. Perhaps a quick post will wake me up.
So I heard on the radio about this new burger from Hardee's. I checked the nutritional facts, just for fun. You know how on the back of packages, the nutrition information is usually based on a 2,000 calorie per day diet? (That's off the top of my head--correct me if I'm wrong) This burger, the Monster Thickburger, has over 1,400 calories. It's got 89 grams of fat and 2086 grams of sodium. Granted, these numbers don't mean a whole heck of a lot to me, but don't they seem pretty high? You can go here to see all the stats. Also, here's some nutritional information panels for comparison. Now, I've said all of these things about the burger, and the sad part is that I still want to try it. Be that all as it may, that burger looks really good.
I should also note that I haven't eaten fast food save once in going on two months. And the only reason I had it that one time was because the wife and I were short on time, on the road, and wouldn't have the opportunity to eat for a while (this is not acceptable with a pregnant wife). We used to have fast food probably at least once a week. One day we watched the documentary "Super Size Me". It's about a guy that was in great shape, and then as an experiment he decided to eat McDonald's three times a day for a month. If you haven't seen this movie, you need to. To be honest, I haven't had McDonald's in years. I never did like it. It's just nasty stuff. But I was a big fan of other fast food chains (especially Hardee's/Carl's Jr). This movie completely changed my fast food habits. I always knew it wasn't healthy to eat like I was, but nothing I heard really changed what I did. After watching this movie, I swore off fast food completely, except in times where the situation called for it. So seriously, if you haven't seen this movie, see it. I've found that eating fast food really was an addiction. I craved it badly for the first week or so, but since then I haven't even wanted it. Also, I feel better now. I've got more energy (though I use a lot of it to do things that don't require much energy--I guess the next step is ambition), and I just feel healthier overall. Don't get me wrong--I haven't changed all of my eating habits, and so I haven't dropped a lot of pounds or anything. It's mostly a mental change.
Yeah, so that's what makes it so strange that I wanted to try this burger. I guess next time we're in a pinch for a quick bite, I'll see if there's a Hardee's around. I'm much more awake now.
