Well, after the pile of crap that was last week, this week was actually really good. Much apologies go out to those who were eagerly awaiting my next post. I know there were hordes of people just waiting in front of their monitors. I'm still mourning over the Eagles' loss in the Super Bowl, and it gives me a sick feeling in my stomach just thinking about it, so I'll move on.
This week was Valentine's Day, my 4th wedding anniversary, and my 26th birthday (which is actually tomorrow). So things have been busy, but not really because of those events. Last week Jessica had her gall bladder surgery and all went well. Namely, they took it out, and didn't leave anything in its place. That was not so fun, because she was in pain most of the time. But at least the pain was better than when the gall bladder was still in. It didn't hurt less--we just knew it was temporary pain rather than the out-of-nowhere-with-no-end-in-sight-unless-you-get-your-gall-bladder-out pain. So her parents came out here and helped, which was good. But on the whole, last week sucked. And to top it off, I ripped my pants and my knee at work. I was trying to carry a lot of things and they were stacked in front of my face, resulting in my tripping over a curb and raking my knee against the rock salt that was on the sidewalk. So I worked the rest of my shift with ripped pants and a bloody knee. Luckily, working in a plasma donation center, I had alcohol pads and gauze on hand. It didn't feel so fine soaking up my blood with 5 alcohol pads (the raked part of my knee is about the size of 2 quarters), but at least I had something, and I could do it in my office behind a closed door. I felt like a moron.
So this week, Dylan started work. You can read about that on his blog. Things will work out well with him. I'm actually training him for the first little bit, so that's weird (because we know each other) and at the same time not so weird (because I've trained many times). I will say that it's much easier to train people that catch on quickly, and training Dylan so far has been quite easy. In addition to that, I got a pretty good raise from the job this week, which well exceeded what I was expecting. So work was really good this week on many levels, though Dylan is probably ready to get his training done. Don't worry my friend, it gets better.
Another good thing was that we closed on the house this week. We signed a lot of papers and wrote large checks, but now we have a house. Step 2: Move into the house. We get possession on March 10, so that'll be a busy week. Exciting stuff.
The capper for this week was what I bought today. I've been lusting after a sweet surround system for quite some time. Today I went down to Indianapolis and purchased it. Behold: I bought these for my front speakers, this for my center channel, these for the satellites, and this subwoofer. All that's left is the receiver and the wires. I won't be able to set it up until we move in, and they're actually in Dylan's attic right now because I have no room in the apartment, but I'm quite excited. So anyway, I hope all's going well for my readers out there in the Land of Love. Be good to your lady (or your man).
Song of the day: "Son of a Preacher Man" by Dusty Springfield - This song is played a lot, but I love it.
