Wow. Did you see the season premiere of “Lost”? No show has had me going like this since the early seasons of “24”. It’s pretty much the best thing going right now. Speaking of TV shows, I haven’t been posting Eight Cents updates here, because the site is basically being updated daily with reviews of most of the new shows (sorry, UPN and WB). I’ll be posting my review of “Threshold” pretty soon, which is one of the best of the new shows I’ve seen so far.
I’ve been working the later shift this week, which is 12-8, and that’s usually the week when I’m able to post more here because I’m up later (as opposed to when I work 6 am -2 pm). But for some reason I’ve been falling asleep earlier. It frustrates me because I always feel like there’s better things to do than sleep. I may have too many hobbies, but at least I’m never bored.
So I saw this guy with a Harley Davidson tattoo on his forehead the other day. It was an older guy. Think he regrets getting that when he was younger? My bet is probably. In fact, I can’t imagine that you would get a tattoo on your forehead and not regret it the next morning when you’re sober. That’s just a guess on my part, though.
In sports news, the Phillies just won’t go away. They’re somehow still in the wild card race with 10 games left. Who are these guys? The Phils I know are out of the race with about 20 games left—too much pressure that they can’t take. Not this team. Ryan Howard hit a grand slam in the 10th last night to put them over the Braves. Now the only problem is that they have the rest of the Braves series, then a series against the Marlins, another series against the Braves, and one against the Nationals. Meanwhile the Astros (who lead the wild card race) have a creampuff schedule. It’ll be very tough for the Phillies to hang in there, but I’m not giving up yet.
The weather here has been giving me fits. It was dry for about a month, and I didn’t mow the lawn for like three weeks. Now it rained this past Friday, and because of my work schedule I still haven’t been able to mow the lawn, though it’s grown about 14 inches in the last 5 days. Every morning I plan on doing it, then it either rains or it finishes raining so that the grass is too wet. Annoying.
I’m going to Muncie for a few days next week to help train a new guy down there. That should be fun. I plan on bringing many movies with me so that I can have my own little film festival. That should be good times. Go figure—my mom gets to go to China for her job, and I’m off to the magical land of Muncie. Oh well.
I’ll be coming back soon with my football post for this week, so get ready for that. I’m not feeling so insightful right now, so I’ll wrap it up here. I think my posts are better when I post at night. Of course, it would help if I could stay awake to post at night, but whatever.
Song of the Day: “Everlong”, by Foo Fighters. The more I listen to them lately, the more I remember how awesome they are.
