I’m back again. I was going to do more posting last week than I ended up doing, but it was extremely busy. Of course, Tuesday night was Pearl Jam in Chicago, which was absolutely the most amazing concert I’ve ever been to. It’s cliché to say it, but it was more than a concert. It was seriously an experience. All those obsessive Pearl Jam fans? I understand now. It also helped that the band (or someone who got in their collective ear) came up with the best idea in the history of concerts: making each live performance available for download. There were so many moments during the show that I wanted to relive, and the download gave me the opportunity to do so. I won’t review the concert now, as Zimm may want to do all three when he returns from his road trip (if he doesn’t, I’ll review the Chicago show), but it was, to make a gross understatement, awesome.
So the show ended at about 11:30, and I got about 5 hours of sleep before making the 3 ½ hour trip back to Wisconsin to finish up the week’s training. I won’t go into detail, because it’d be boring. It was pretty good other than this one guy that was determined to make things difficult. This whole training is about going into a place and making changes for the better. But this guy had to disagree with everything anyone said until it appeared that he was the one who came up with anything of worth. He was one of those people that needs to be needed. He needs to know everything, but no one else can have information, because they wouldn’t have to go to him for everything. Have you ever seen a person who, when he smiles, it looks like a snarling grimace? That was this guy. He never looked genuinely happy. It just looked like he was bearing his teeth. Anyone I’ve ever met with that particular characteristic has been obnoxious. But that’s enough about that.
Congratulations to Shoeless Joel, who landed a job teaching at a school in Georgia. Good job, man.
I think that’s about it for now. I’ve got a List in the works, along with some sports stuff and reviews of all the season finales I’ve been watching. So I’ll be around.
Song of the Day: “Jeremy”, by Pearl Jam. I’m not even really a big fan of this song, but it was unbelievable when they played it live. After the lyrics were over, Eddie let the crowd take over for the screams at the end. My voice was toast for the rest of the night, but it was so cool.
