Well, this past weekend was pretty nuts. We spent another night in the ER on Saturday night, and it looks like Jessica may have to have her gall bladder out. Fun stuff. I don't think I actually mentioned the first ER visit we had, now that I think about it. If I did, here it is again: When Luke was about 3 days old, Jessica started getting really dizzy and light-headed, and couldn't stand very well. After much convincing and a call to the doctor, we went in to the emergency room (translation: if it can't wait at least 2 weeks to get fixed, it's an emergency) and found out that she had something called labyrinthitis. Apparently this stems from the notion that one becomes disoriented while wandering through labyrinths. But anyway, on to this weekend...
On Saturday night, Jessica started having trouble breathing because it breathing was causing extreme pain. So after much coaxing, I got her to go to the ER again. She was not pleased about the whole thing. I can't say I blame her, since she's been to the hospital more in the last three weeks than both of us combined in our whole lives. So anyway, we went in, they did blood work and a chest x-ray, and they found nothing. The verdict was that it was probably the gall bladder and she would need an ultrasound to know for sure. So that got done today, and the doctor will be calling tomorrow. Meanwhile, a juicy little tidbit that would have been nice to know from the emergency people was that she should stay away from fatty foods and dairy. Sunday morning she had some cereal, and it ended up happening again. Not as severely this time, but when I called my mom to tell her the story, she was pretty appalled that they hadn't said anything. But on to better things...
So there was a house that we put an offer on last week. On Monday, to be exact. It was a nice layout, but cosmetically it was really bland and needed a lot of help. It was going to cost us a lot of money to make it look nice and to get it where we wanted it. So we made an offer on the lower end. The seller wasn't a fan of the offer and came back with a still ridiculously high counter. We knew at this point that it was futile to try and work with the guy, but we still came back for the heck of it with our ceiling offer. He came back with another high one, so we walked. Well, we thought it'd be a while before we found another that we liked, but on Friday, we found one. And we liked it better. The thing is, this house hadn't been on the market because someone already had an offer in on it, but that person lost his job and had to withdraw. So we lucked out. We were the first ones to see it, and the second people to see it also came that day and they also made their offer on Saturday. Our realtor called just as I was walking into a Chinese place to get some Chairman Mao (reference the "Halloween and Stuff" post from October if you don't know what I'm talking about) to tell us that another offer was coming in, so we upped ours to the asking price (which was really a good value--it was listed below the appraised value). So I found out on Sunday during the first of two Chad Lewis touchdown catches that our offer was accepted. Needless to say, there was much rejoicing. Which brings me to my next topic...
The Philadelphia Eagles are your NFC Champs for the first time since 1980. If I tried to express how amped I am for the Super Bowl in two weeks, I would fail miserably. This will be the longest two weeks ever, for many reasons. I will expound with my next post, tentatively titled "The White Man is Bringing Me Down". I'll also be analyzing the Super Bowl to death. I'll be posting extensively on the topic, so you must bear with me. If I seem kind of dull here, it's because I'm on hour 13 of my first 14 hour shift of the week. Again, see the title of my next post. So right now I'm at a pretty good balance of good and bad, as there are utterly awesome things going on along with some rather crappy things. And on that note...
