Is It Wednesday Already?

I've been meaning to get on and talk about the rest of my trip to Delaware, which basically consisted of one day. On Friday, my brother, my dad and I went up to a Phillies game. I'd been wanting to get to a game at the new ballpark, so this was great. You couldn't ask for a better game, either. It was close all the way, and it ended with a walk-off home run in the bottom of the 9th by David Bell. The only complaint I had was the following (and it was my own fault):

My brother and I decided to go and get some cheesesteaks while the Brewers were batting. Before we were even in line, the Phillies got a double play and ended the top half of the inning. We figured this was no big deal, because we'd be back before anything happened anyway. We had pretty good seats a few rows up in right field, so we didn't want to miss much of the Phillies batting. So we're in line, and Pat Burrell gets a single off the wall. Up comes Jim Thome. I said to my brother, "Thome's going to hit a home run into our section, and dad's gonna have the ball when we get back." Two pitches, and who would have guessed it...he hit a home run into our section. Dad didn't get the ball, but it was still ridiculous.

While I'm on the subject of cheesesteaks, by the way, everyone gushes about Philly cheesesteaks. I haven't brought this up often before, but I'll say it here officially: The cheesesteaks in Delaware are better than in Philly. I'll tell you why: In Philly, at least the places I've been to, they don't chop the steak. Yeah, you know those steak-ums that you can get in the store? They just fry it up and throw it on a roll. If you don't know what I'm talking about, you probably don't care. But I tell you, a chopped steak beats a non-chopped steak any day. I could write for a long time about this. Also, there is far more meat on the steaks you can get in Delaware. And this is anywhere in northern Delaware I'm talking about. (I've never had one in southern DE.) There may be exceptions in Philly, but Pat's and Geno's (the two most famous steak joints in Philly) both do the same thing. Did you know that it's an option to get Cheez Whiz on your steak in Philly? In fact, it's the most popular option. I've had it before...actually this time at the game was the only time I've had it. It's not so great. I prefer American or Provolone (of course, American isn't real cheese either, but who's keeping track here?).

I've been back at work for three days, and I'm ready for another vacation. Isn't that always how it is, though? It's just been busy for the last few weeks (Zimm tells me I missed the worst of it when I was gone).

Keep an eye out for the launch of Eight Cents. It won't be long now. I'm gearing up for my first review, and I know Joel's got one coming soon as well.

Song of the Day: "The Best of You", by the Foo Fighters. When people ask themselves "What happened to rock music?", they aren't thinking of the Foo Fighters. One of the only actual rock bands out there. I'm sure their new album will be making an appearance on Eight Cents before next week is over.

And now, a couple of pictures:

Here's Luke and his cousin, Nathan. As you can see, a few months makes a lot of difference.

Bleeding green for three generations. Left to right: My dad, my brother Brent holding Luke, and me. Luke's pretty excited about the whole thing, as you can see. Also he's excited about grabbing his feet.
