I Hate Mondays

I'm having a day like this and this. I guess we're taking turns. On an unrelated note, if you haven't read my mom's blog, the latest post is a good place to start. Three links in two sentences. Nice.

While I have a bit of down time here, perhaps I'll post for a bit. It'll probably take me 4 hours to finish the post with a bunch of interruptions, but at least I won't be thinking about it while I'm writing. And for those who wonder, yes I do have things to do here. I'm just so efficient at doing them that I sometimes have some extra time. So there.

My first outing with the Dutch oven turned out pretty well. We took second place (Jessica helped as we passed Luke back and forth that day). Of course, there were only five entries, but still. Not too bad for some first-timers. We made a cobbler sort of thing with peaches and crushed pineapple, and there was even some tapioca in there.

In other news, it is really really hot here. Don't believe me? Well here you go. Right now it's 96 degrees with a heat index of 115 degrees. It was 81 degrees at 5:30 this morning. That is just not right. There's supposed to be a thunderstorm coming here soon, so hopefully that will clear up some of the humidity and cool things off. I had to mow my lawn this morning before it got out of control, and even though I did it at 8:00 am, by the time I was done it looked like I had just gotten out of the shower (minus the nudity). This is the time of year to lose weight, because all you have to do is stand outside for 10 minutes and the pounds fall off. Seriously though, I've actually lost 13 pounds in the last couple of weeks. That's mostly due to cutting back on cheese (I love cheese, people) and chocolate, and moving the big meal of the day to lunch. Now I just eat a salad for dinner. Zimm calls me a woman, but that's alright.

I suppose that's it for today. If you're looking for something to check out on TV tonight and you've ever enjoyed a boxing match, check out UFC Unleashed on Spike TV at 11:05 eastern. Perhaps I'll post a paragraph sometime about why UFC isn't the human cockfight that some seem to think it is. But for now, I'm going to wrap this up. Looks like four hours was a pretty good estimate, as I started this post about that long ago.

Song of the day: "Man in the Box" by Alice In Chains. I'm not a huge Alice in Chains fan, but this is one of their songs that I really like.
