Where Does the Time Go?

Is it just me, or have the last two weeks gone by really quickly? I've barely updated anything at all. It's been one of those times where it's seemed really busy, but I couldn't tell you what I've been doing that's more than what I usually do. I haven't even updated "What I'm Checking Out" (I usually do update that quite frequently, actually).

There hasn't been too much going on here lately. Football season gets closer every day, which makes me happy. I've bought my DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket, so I'm ready. I guess Monday Night Football "premieres" tonight, but preseason football is almost unwatchable. So the wait continues.

I've got a few reviews on the queue, so hopefully I'll have them up on Eight Cents this week. I just posted one today, actually. If my reviews seem slightly more coherent, it's because Professor Shoeless Joel has offered to edit them for me. It's a good thing, too. I'm rarely able to sit and write for the whole time it takes me to write a review. I've got Luke yelling at me, or someone needs something or other, or I get distracted, or what have you. Anyway, by the time it's done I can proofread it without really seeing it. So thanks to Joel for that.

The wife had been on me for a while to get a water softener, so we got that last week, along with a reverse osmosis thing for the sink so that we have drinking water. So she's happy. I've never been able to really drink water a lot. I force myself to because I need to, but still after drinking water my whole life, I can't drink it without pulling a face. Speaking of drinking, I've also never been able to drink diet soda, but now since I'm trying to lose weight (which, surprisingly, is a lot easier than I thought it would be--at least while I'm still pretty heavy--I guess these are the easy pounds), I've gotten used to diet soda and even enjoy it. Weird. I think a lot of the calories I got before came from juice. I love juice and I don't like water...that's not such a great combination.

Anyway, since there's not much else going on for me, I'll talk about Luke (since no one ever gets sick of a new dad talking about his kid, right? Well, at least my mom doesn't). He can pretty much get where he wants to go now if he wants to get there bad enough. I think he doesn't like to crawl because it's not fast enough for him. He keeps trying to stand up. He'll be crawling, then he'll get on his hands and feet and start pushing with his hands. And if I hold his hands and walk him around, he thinks it's the most hilarious thing ever. He's also got this push-toy where he can stand up and push it around, but since it has wheels we have to keep a hand on him or else he'll fall. He's also discovered bubbles. We'll start blowing bubbles when he's in the bath tub and he's just fascinated. Having a baby is fun. And now, pictures (these aren't great...especially if you're just coming from Zimm's blog):

The chair is much more comfortable than the floor.

I tell you--this kid loves his mealtime. Your guess is as good as mine as to why he's a little guy.

The walkinest seven-month-old you ever did see.

Song of the day: "Smoke on the Water", by Deep Purple. No particular reason here...it's just a good song.

"BREAKING NEWS"
===============

-Energy and Asset Technology, Inc. (EGTY) owns a global license to market
the genetically enhanced Global Cedar growth trees, with plans to
REVOLUTIONIZE the forest-timber industry.

These newly enhanced Globa| Cedar trees require only 9-12 years of growth before they can
be harvested for lumber, whereas worldwide growth time for lumber is 30-50 years.

Other than growing at an astonishing rate, the Global Cedar has a number of other benefits.
Its natural elements make it resistant to termites, and the lack of oils and sap found in the wood
make it resistant to forest fire, ensuring higher returns on investments.
T
he wood is very lightweight and strong, lighter than Poplar and over twice
as strong as Balsa, which makes it great for construction. It also has
the unique ability to regrow itself from the stump, minimizing the land and
time to replant and develop new root systems.

Based on current resources and agreements, EGTY projects revenues of $140 Million
with an approximate profit margin of 40% for each 9-year cycle. With anticipated
growth, EGTY is expected to challenge Deltic Timber Corp. during its initial 9-year cycle.

Deltic Timber Corp. currently trades at over $38.00 a share with about $153 Million in revenues.
As the reputation and demand for the Global Cedar tree continues to grow around the world
EGTY believes additional multi-million dollar agreements will be forthcoming. The Global Cedar nursery has produced
about 100,000 infant plants and is developing a production growth target of 250,000 infant plants per month.

Energy and Asset Technology is currently in negotiations with land and business owners in New Zealand,
Greece and Malaysia regarding the purchase of their popular and profitable fast growing infant tree plants.
Inquiries from the governments of Brazil and Ecuador are also being evaluated.
