I’m watching Bob Dylan: No Direction Home right now on the computer and it’s awesome. If you haven’t seen it and you like music and/or lived in the 60’s, you should watch it. It’s cool for me to see because it puts a lot of today in perspective. Dylan was a rebel when there were still rebels. In a time like now, when everyone’s trying to be a rebel, there are no real rebels. He made his voice heard when it wasn’t easy to do so. Now, some schmo like me can get a blog and say whatever he wants, but back then it wasn’t so simple. At least it seems that way to me. Maybe I’m just glorifying a time I know nothing about. But at any rate, it’s still a great documentary. Some people groan when you say “documentary, but if you think they’re boring, try these ones on for size: Murderball (about quadriplegics that play a brutal type of rugby), Mad Hot Ballroom (about New York elementary schools that teach ballroom dance to underprivileged kids), Dogtown and Z-Boys (about the originators of skateboarding), and Riding Giants (about how surfing got popular). That’s just a few. I love documentaries.
Here’s a few tidbits that Zimm turned me on to recently:
-The best thing to happen to your job since the Internet.
-All sorts of cool stuff for your computer. Try the ClearType, Alt-Tab Replacement, Tweak UI especially. There’s a bunch of things.
Luke is finally starting to take some steps. He’ll stand for longer than half a second, and he’ll walk for a few feet before he falls. So now I’m less worried that he just doesn’t want to walk. Of course, he still gets tired of it after a while, but progress is progress.
Am I the only one that thinks about a ton of things to say before I start blogging, and then when I start I forget 99% of them? I guess watching a movie while I’m writing doesn’t help me remember (not to mention helping the quality of my writing, but I’m not exactly winning any writing awards any time soon in the first place), but still. It annoys me.
Song of the Day: "A Hard Rain is Gonna Fall", by Bob Dylan.
One more thing before the pictures: If you somehow haven't seen this yet, go watch it now.
And finally, here are the pictures I promised in my last post.
