Well, the holidays are over, and it’s time to get back to business. Time to get rid of the weight I gained back, time to post more often (and resurrect Eight Cents), time to be generally more productive. Of course, today is the eleventh, so perhaps my productivity has been delayed, but I’ve been on vacation, so what do you want from me?
This New Year was less eventful than the last, for obvious reasons. We spent it playing cards in Kansas rather than in a hospital room waiting for Luke to show up. I prefer the former, by the way. We were in Kansas visiting Jessica’s sister and her husband and their kids. We had a great time, and we had a party for Luke down there. It was decided that he loves cake (pictures to come).
It’s a bit late right now for me to look back and see what’s happened recently that’s post-worthy, so I’ll favor my readers with a random grammatical suggestion. I propose that we change the past tense of certain verbs. Every verb that has “ea” in the present tense should have “o” in the past tense. I will give you examples. We already have “speak” and “spoke”, “freeze” and “froze”. I’ve heard people say “squeeze” and “squoze”. I think we should just make it universal. Here are some examples used in sentences.
“Man, I was sitting with my back turned, and Matt came in and yelled at me, and I about jumped out of my skin. He totally froke me out.”
“There was this mouse trapped behind my wall, and he squoke all night long wanting to get out.”
“I was at the football game, and this drunk guy jumped out of the stands and stroke across the field.”
Why do this, you ask? Well, why not? I think it sounds better. I’m going to incorporate it into my every day speech, and I encourage you to do the same.
That’s about it for now. I’m resurrecting the media journal this year. So far I’ve actually kept track, so we’ll see how that continues to work. I’ll also be posting reviews of the new winter shows on Eight Cents eventually. And while I’m at it with all of this blog-related stuff, I think I’m going to be changing the name of my sports blog. So keep your eyes open for that.
