Garage Sale Days

As you might be able to tell from the title, we're having a garage sale today. Currently, my wife and Zimm's wife are out in the garage selling our junk to people (we decided to have the sale together so that there would be even more junk for people to sort through). So that's fun. I've been watching mini-Zimm, because his dad's at work. Better him than me. I'm sure he's probably reading this and cursing me right now, but that's okay.

So I thought I broke my lawn mower the other day. I was mowing, and it just stopped. I thought maybe I was low on oil or something, but since it wasn't smoking it didn't seem like the engine overheated. But anyway, after it stopped I tried restarting it and it just wasn't happening. Of course, the first thing my wife says is, "Do you have gas in it?". I've mowed the lawn every time on less than a tank of gas, and there was still gas in it, so I figured something else must be wrong. We have some friends that own a lawn care/landscaping business, so we gave them a call, and they stopped by to have a look at it.

The first thing he said to me was, "Is there gas in it? You know, I went and looked at so-and-so's lawn mower not too long ago. He was all upset and thought something was wrong with the mower, and it turns out there was just no gas in it. He really felt like an idiot." Can you tell where this is going? So I said of course there was gas in it, and I wouldn't call them without checking that. He had a look and suggested we just fill it up anyway. Well, we filled up the tank and of course the mower started right up. Needless to say, I felt like a moron. And of course, my wife let everyone know that she told me to put gas in it before. Apparently, newer mowers and weed eaters tend to stop sometimes if the gas gets too low. Well now I know.

Next week is the 4-H fair around here, and the plasma center where I work is taking a display down there. Of course, we need people to man the display, so all of management is taking turns going down there to do just that. I'll be there Saturday from 12-10, which is a long time, but since I'm going Saturday I only have to do it once. Everyone else is going twice. Of course they also don't have to go to work that day, but whatever. I also get the day off on Monday for going on Saturday, so I'm good. The nice thing for Zimm is that he'll essentially have a 5-day weekend if you don't count the fair as working (and he has a laptop, so he'll be sufficiently diverted from "work").

I'm listening to Beck's new album, Guero, right now. I love it. Excellent stuff. You can read Zimm's review of it here. I seem to be mentioning him a lot today.

I guess that's it for now. I've got a new link on the sidebar that tells you when Eight Cents has been updated. As was pointed out in the comments from my last post, it was inaccurate this morning, as I forgot to post my latest addition (which was already written, but not published). But now it's published, and the site is officially updated today. In fact, it's been updated for the last three days. We'll try to keep it coming over there.

Song of the Day: "I Can't Lie to Me", by Clay Davidson. I was reminded a few days ago of how awesome this song is when I listened to his album again for the first time in a while. I don't know what ever happened to this guy. He made the album Unconditional a few years back, then just kind of dropped off the radar.
